Chess Competition

On 11th March 2023, ten girls represented the school in regional youth and cadets Chess qualifiers at Mary Leakey girls’ high school.  Our girls met other Chess players from Alliance girls, Mary Leakey high school, Mary Hill girls, Starehe girls, Nova Pioneer, Strathmore, and Alliance boys just to mention a few.

 

The competitions were organized according to age group whereby players under the age of 10 played against each other. 8 of our girls participated in the under 18 years category and 2 were placed in the under 16 years category.  All the players participated in 6 games each game lasting between 30-40 minutes.  A participant earned 1 point for a game won, 1/2 a point for a draw, and 0 in case she lost to the opponent.

Players with at least 2 points out of six points qualified for the next stage of the national youth and cadets qualifiers. National competitions will take place at Kisii School and Kereri Girls High school in April.
