Congratulation Team Kianda

The Kenya National Youth and Cadet Chess Championship in Kisii attracted many participants from all corners of the country.  The tournament kicked off on Monday 24th April.  There were 3128 participants, 1988 boys, and 1140 girls.  
 
Chess Kenya will use the national youth chess competition to select a team to represent the country at the Africa Championships set for Egypt.
 
Erica Muturi (Form 1), Rita Omondi (Form 2), Precious Muriuki, and Lourdes Nyambu (Form 3) represented Kianda School in the competitions.  Each participant played eight games.  
 
Under the 16 category, Erica Muturi won all eight games and emerged in position one in that category while Rita Omondi won two games and drew in one.
 
In the under-18 category, Precious Muriuki won in six games and emerged in position 12 out of 187 participants while Lourdes Nyambu won in three games and drew in one.
